Weekend Getaway

We decided to get out of the city for some fresh air and headed upstate to a B&B for the weekend. The charming house, Suminski Innski has been lovingly restored by owner by Tim Voell. He became sole owner of the house when his wife Josephine died in 2009. She was a music teacher who was 2 months shy of her 100th birthday and had always dreamt of living in the house. Over the years Tim has given a new life to the house and has now opened it up to share with lucky visitors.

Tim made us an amazing breakfast during our stay, and shared his signature scramble recipe that his nephew Andrew named "Egg Mess":

In a skillet with olive oil, sautee garlic, onions and cubed potatoes until caramelized and soft. Add some greens like spinach or broccoli, sliced jalapenos, sweet peppers and mushrooms. When everything is soft, eggs are cracked gently over the top. Be sure to keep the yolks whole and add a dusting of spices. Cover with a lid until egg whites are almost cooked. Add cubes of sharp cheddar over top and scatter with fresh dill. Once cheese is melted, top with fresh tomato slices and serve with a side of toast and sausage.

*Tim's eggs are brought to him fresh every morning by farmer Mike of "Clucking Good Eggs", organic veggies from local CSA's, spices from Penzey's, bread from Tivoli Bread Company, and sausage from Tivoli's North Wind Farm.

Rocky Road Risotto

Our Rocky Road risotto recipe is the perfect sweet treat for a festive dinner. Velvety smooth and decadent, we've infused our risotto with melted chocolate, toasted almonds, and mini marshmallows.

Behind The Scenes

If you missed our big annoucement earlier this month, we're currently working on our first cookbook coming out Fall 2013, published by Roost! We couldn't be more excited and we are so thankful for all the support our readers have given us these past few years. In addition to our usual recipe posts, we'd love to share some behind the scenes looks at our studio, along with cooking and styling tips.

We had so much fun shooting a video with FADER featuring our Bacon-Wrapped Bananas and Guinness Float. We hope you guys enjoy catching a glimpse of our studio!

Kinfolk Dinner

We had an amazing time cooking the Kinfolk dinner this past Sunday at The Green Building. Thank you so much to all of our partners and to everyone who attended for all of your support and wonderful company!

The Green Building provided the perfect rustic, bohemian space for our cozy, candelit dinner shared between friends. Afterwards, we enjoyed Mast Brother's deliciously rich and smooth hazelnut chocolate cake, and The Stand's refreshing cocktails.

Special thanks to our evening chefs, Justin Hicks and Hannah Schmitz, and to Blue Moon Acres who provided their beautiful microgreens for our Winter Greens and Citrus salad.

We are happy to share all the recipes with you for your own family style gathering, featuring:

Winter Greens and Grapefruit Salad

Celery Root, Potato and Pear Mash

Leek Bread Pudding with Crispy Shiitake Mushrooms

Roasted Pork Loin stuffed with Port Soaked Figs

Pomegranate Pavlova with Cardamom Cream.

Fried Wild Mushroom Risotto

With fried wild mushrooms, fresh parsley, and parmesan, this week's risotto recipe is deliciously creamy and satisfying. During the winter this is one of our favorite dishes to make for a cozy dinner at home.
